Fishing

The Mississippi River along the Wisconsin Great River Road offers some of the best fishing in the Midwest. Walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, channel and flathead catfish and numerous other species inhabit the river. And because of modern conservation practices and habitat restoration, the fishing today is the best that it has ever been.

Nearly every community along the Wisconsin Great River Road offers boat launches onto the river. Fishing floats – large barges anchored in the river – can be found in Lynxville, Genoa, Trempealeau, Fountain City and Alma. The fishing floats provide anglers with access to some of the best fishing on the entire river.
