Genoa
Genoa was founded in 1854 by Italian immigrants, who named the town after Genoa, Italy. From the village of Genoa you can watch towboats and barges “lock through” at Lock and Dam #8 at the south edge of the village. You can also fish from a barge anchored below the dam.
Genoa is home to the Genoa National Fish Hatchery, which raises endangered mussels as well as brook trout and sturgeon. The hatchery offers tours throughout the year.
