Kieler, Wisconsin, is the southern gateway to the Wisconsin Great River Road National Scenic Byway. The community of Kieler has been growing quickly in the past decade, with many residents working in Dubuque, Iowa. Not far from Kieler is the Sinsinawa Mound,  home to over 700 Dominican nuns.

The Sinsinawa Dominican community was founded by famed frontier missionary Father Samuel Mazzucheli in 1847. Since then, more than 3,200 women have taken their vows at Sinsinawa Mound and have gone on to serve throughout the world. Sinsinawa is home to a bookshop, small exhibit on Father Mazzuchelli and an original stone building built by him in 1847. To get there from Kieler, travel east on Hwy 11, then south on County Z.
