This charming village of 815 became a river town in 1937 when the pool created by the construction of Lock and Dam #8 flooded 18,000 acres of bottomland and brought the river to its doorstep. Stoddard Park features a river beach, a marina and a campground.
Goose Island County Campground is a popular spot with a signed canoe trail and beach.
